Default Door Latch Spring

I am in need of a door latch spring for a 1939 Woodie. Does anyone have a source for them? Thanks.

Try barnfind08 here on the Barn. Fred might have a NOS one.

The place I found door latch springs for my '46 Station Wagon was an old time auto parts store. The owner pulled out a box that was about 18" square and on the inside of the lid was listed almost every car they were used on. Charged me a buck each.

None that will work in a wagon...regardless of what he advertises.

If you post a picture of what it looks like I might have something. I have an old box of door springs I can look at.

Thanks Kube. I guess Drake failed to mention "except station wagons".

Barnfind08 is a good choice. Fred is in MN. You really don't want any new repop ones. I got one of Roy's, wasn't even close. The guy who has boxes of old NOS ones is Ray Helgers in RI. I took my old spring from the '40 to him and we matched it up with ones he had. If you are not in a real hurry, get the spring out, call Ray 401 635 4849, and mail it to him to be sure get the right one.

I have a couple of boxes of those springs if all other options fail. I would need to see a picture of it though. Color also helps.

Here are a couple of pictures of the spring if anyone can match them up. No color is left on it.

I won't be home until Friday afternoon, but will check my box of unidentified, new springs when I return.

Woodie1,

Just got home and went through my box of springs. Sorry, but I don't have it. Some pretty close, but nothing exact.

I went through my two boxes also and found some close in shape but not exact. What is the thickness and width of the spring material? Also, I assume the spring in picture one is in a non tension position. Spring in picture two that is broken would have the broken tang pointing up (vertical). Is that correct?

You are correct Flathead4d. I did manage to get a Model A Ford latch spring to work.

Glad you found something to work. Where are you located on the West side? I'm just south of Detroit (downriver).
