1942 - 1948 convertible dash - same as sedan?
I need to find a replacement dash for my '47 convertible, but need to know how interchangeable they are. Will a sedan dash bolt in? Can a sedan dash be modified to fit a convert? On the earlier cars, it was strictly different where it bolted up below the windshield, and a sedan dash could be modified. If needed, I can weld that strip on a sedan dash using a piece salvaged from a butchered convertible dash.
Or, does anyone have a convertible only dash for sale at a reasonable price?? Thanks, Steve |

42 to 48 Dashboards are all the same for all models. The only difference is the color and trim pieces.

On the same Topic, no 1942 - 1948 Ford or Mercury Dashes were ever made in Right Hand drive configuration.
All factory RHD Fords & Mercurys from 1941 through to the 1948 used the 1941 Ford or 41 Mercury RHD Dashes. The reason for this is because Ford didn't want the added expense of tooling up for a new Dash after one year when so few, comparatively speaking would be used. The same reasoning was behind the 51 Ford Woodys, which use the carry over 49/50 Dash, because they are narrower than the regular Dashes used on all other body styles. |
