Default Use of 6 bladed fan

Can an aftermarket 6 bladed fan be used on a 1942-1952 Ford 21A cooling fan assembly?

Most likely it can be "used" but first it would have to be adapted to whatever fan assembly is being used.

I ran an aftermarket "Flex Fan" as an interim replacement while I was replacing the fan bearing on my '51 Ford a few years back. I don't exactly remember what I had to do to make it work, but the fact I can't remember what I did is a good indication that it was pretty easy to do.

There was a story in the V8 times a while ago about one of the Ford parts has a 6 blade Ford fan in their tractor parts. I’ll see if I can find it.

The desire for a fan with more blades is usually from someone with overheating problems. The standard four bladed fan works fine with a system in good condition. As for interchange, Ford used several different versions over the years from crankshaft mounts, generator, mounts and the type with the oil reservoir. Multiblade fans can increase fan noise. The reservoir type typically seize. We made a ballbearing replacement years ago, and C&G shows them now available in their new catalog for the very reasonable $160.
