Default 40 Flathead to 1965 MUSTANG Trans

Anyone ever mate a 221 Flathead to a RAT or RAN fully synchronized 3 speed? Mounting could be an issue. Let me know.

Check with Gene at Model Engineering. (330) 644-3450. Kind of hard to reach but he will return your call. May take a couple of days. They make an adapter for Ford 4 speed toploaders and the 3 speed full syncro should be the same. Back when I was in HS I changed out the full syncro 3 speed toplaoder in my 289 Falcon for a 4 speed with no fitment issues.

Is there a specific reason for this transmission selection? A 4 speed with overdrive (or any transmission with OD) would seem like a much better option.

I liked my fully synchronized Ford 3 speed on my 40 Ford when I was running a Chev motor in it with a Trans Adapt bellhousing. Nice coming to a stop an down shifting to first gear with a grind. I now have an 8ba flatty under the hood with a mustang four speed with a T-176 Jeep shifter conversion in it. Adapted the 3 speed with the T-150 shifter assembly. Both a bullet proof

JSeery: I happen to have three of those transmission laying around from 65-69 Mustangs that were converted to four speeds. Just looking for a way to use one.
