Train wreck
Here is a famous family picture. My Grandpa was having trouble getting up the icy hill in front of the railroad tracks next to his house in Gold Creek, MT. So he backed way up to get up a good head of steam and here comes the train. He couldn't stop since it was so icy and he hit the train between two box cars. He walked away without a scratch. His truck, not so much. Also pictured is a Milwaukee Road substation. The Milwaukee was an electric train that pulled amps going up the continental divide(near Gold Creek, MT) and made amps going down it. Tracks were pulled up many years ago. What make and model is the pickup? 50s GM?

I can't see the picture either. Used the link and it says 1 x 1 pixel as Mart stated.

Re: Train wreck
Can see it now. I agree with cas3. 55-59 Chevy or GMC. Hard to tell with the front end wiped off. It does have a big back window, which would denote a higher trim level. (Deluxe option sort of thing, not sure what they would have called it).
It looks like the engine is partially visible, and looks like a V8. If it looks like a Pontiac V8 that would make it a GMC. If it looks like a Chevy, that would make the truck a Chevy. To my not so great eyes, it does not look like a Chevy, but I'm not sure what a Poncho looks like. I'd sway towards GMC, but could easily be wrong. Mart Last edited by Mart; 01-20-2019 at 11:20 AM. |

Re: Train wreck
Mart, and 5851a, I agree. The crown shape of the valve cover,
the width of the oil cap( Chev made them a pinch smaller), As mentioned, no obvious fuel pump where it should be. The dipstick is too close to the front. It's a Ponyack.

Re: Train wreck
my former boss was driving his buick wildcat back in the early 70's and ran into the side of a moving train, the train car ladders on side kept tearing off parts of the buick, he was scared shxxless and just sat there while it did the damage. I was right behind him so I saw most of it. he got charged by the railroad to repair the box cars steps!
