Can anybody put some names with the Henry award cars? I assume the 489 point 1930 Panel was Will Cronkrite's truck?

Like many others, I'd have given anything to be there but life has a funny way of getting in the way of our "wants"... Congratulations to all the participants!

481 28 Tudor HENRY - Don Bivens
485 29 Special Coupe HENRY Masters award - Hunter Fanny
485 30 Cabrolet HENRY - Bob Anderson
489 30 Panel Masters Award - Will Kronkite

These are a few that I know right off the bat.

Let me say that Don Bivens' Tudor is a very important one in Model A history. The number is A616. It is a Model A that Henry Ford had his photo taken in. He actually gave it to his illegitimate son who drove it to California and back to demonstrate a Model A's durability and speed. After Henry died his wife wanted the car to be destroyed. Some folks hid it to preserve it. When Don found it the car was still being "hidden".

Don did a great job in restoring A616 to its original condition. Before I hit the road on Thursday, I told Don that I do believe that "Henry" will once again ride in that Tudor.

Good going Don and a well deserved congratulations!!

A photo of A616 when new appears in that essential Model A book,"The Model A Ford as Henry Built It" by De Angelis, Francis & Henry.

Interesting story re ''Henrys"illegitimate son''. If you are referring to John Dahlinger who was born in 1923, he would have been somewhat too young to drive a Model A Tudor cross country in 1928?

Do photos of the above mentioned cars ever get posted outside Club publications? Bob

I am pleased with my score of 430 points in fine-point judging at Lexington. I will work harder to improve for French Lick in '14.

Congratulations on your score Tom, you have a right to be proud. Since I have joined the Barn I have an understanding that your accomplishment represents a lot of work. Do the Judges give you a report so you have a direction to go in to recieve a higher score in future judging events?

Registrant #10, Louis Ardit, I have known him for years and I followed him to the Horse Park in the Grand Tour. Louis is a member of the Southern A's. Louis is 92 and will be 93 this July, I talked to Louis this morning, he has attended all the meets I have been to, very active in club. I would take the results of all ages with a grain of salt, no one asked ages or that kind of information on any question-ere we were supplied.

I hope you would give a big Happy Birthday wish to Louis. Bruce

Sometimes it is fun to see the 'journey' from what Tom started with and where he went. It is also worth noting that Tom did not restore the car with the intention of showing it. If I recall correctly, it was Will Cronkrite who saw the car one day and encouraged him to consider showing it.

Yes, we get a copy of each judge's evaluation of each of the 23 areas that are judged. An explanation for deductions is indicated. It is helpful.

At the Greenbay National 8 years or so ago the youngest driver was my son, 15 years old. He drove from Joliet and back. There were several other really young drivers. Is this part of the (continued) trend toward older members?
