Mercury speaker grille.
Hi..!
In a market, I found not one but two speaker grilles to my Mercury -54 and these were in very good condition but needs some color. I have sandblasted one of them and are supose to give it som finish. Anyone here who knows what the original color the speaker grille on mercury should be? Where these painted in the vehicle color or where they polished to be metal? Thanks in advance..//Karl-Johan |

Re: Mercury speaker grille.
It was likely painted what ever color the hard surfaces of the interior were painted. If you have the data plate that information is encoded on it.

Nice ride! I vote for green. Speaker grilles are usually unobtrusive unless they're chrome.

Re: Mercury speaker grille.
The NOS ones I've seen on EBAY were like an argent grey color. Possible they were meant to be painted to match a car ? Maybe find a picture of one in a car online.

Re: Mercury speaker grille.
Thanks again för answers and superlatives..!
Most likely you had to paint grille in body color, and that it was delivered in gray. So again... think it will be green.. ..//Karl-Johan |

Re: Mercury speaker grille.
Painting the grill body color is OK, but not like they were originally installed as Tomjc stated.

Re: Mercury speaker grille.
The only ones I have seen in cars are the silver/grey color. I'm not sure if they were ever assembly line installed or just a dealer accessory. If trying to be 100% original it would make sense to make them that color. If it doesn't matter to you, just paint the color you think looks best. That's all I was trying to say.
