Default Ignition switch/ steering wheel lock

Still working on my 47. 1/2 ton that has not been on the road in many years.
The key is froze in the switch and will not rotate to start position, and the steering lock switch is frozen in the off position.
I remover the electrical unit and drilled out a plug just below where the key goes in. I drilled deep enough to hit the key cylinder, but cylinder will still not come out. There is another plug(brass) that is in the center of the bracket that supports the steering column in Line with the key cylinder.....do I also have to drill out that plug? It looks like it needs to be drilled out, but I don't want to created a problem if it should not be removed. At help is appreciated.

The plug you need to drill out is at a right angle to the lock cyl. make sure you got it all out. The other plug you mention may be the top of the locking plunger. Soak the whole column drop in light penetrating oil. The lock cyl may be rusted in place. Call me and I'll try to help over the phone. 845 457 3546 Phil

Get the drop off the tube. I drill a series of holes across the end of the pinch bolt and use a screwdriver to remove the bolt. Heat is usually required. The drop will now slide on the tube. You should be able to use a punch to move the spring loaded plunger up and remove the drop from the tube. If all fails, cut the tube right below the drop. Soak the drop in EvapoRust. It will desolve the rust and will not hurt the lock or other parts. Everything should loosen up and be fine.
