ID help..Town Car Vanity ???
I found this vanity set NOS in the box in a shed that contained lots of early auto parts. The guys father founded a Ford agency back in the teens. It appears to be a vanity set for an early auto. One side has a mirror and the other...3 compartments, maybe an ash try, and a little closed metal structure with a knob on top. It is removable, but I haven't been able to carefully extract it yet. Maybe a lighter or perfume bottle? It is made byGrand Rapids Metalcraft and is nickle plated. It is mounted by wood screws which are included in the original box. I know something similar was used in the town cars and wonder if anyone has any information on this.

Re: ID help..Town Car Vanity ???
Thanks, Tim, I really did not think it was town car, but coming from a dealer's home stash, I figured I'd take a chance. It looked after- market. Now if I can just get that little boxy thing out of there!

Re: ID help..Town Car Vanity ???
Here are a couple of pictures. The first is the vanity "book" holder which is located in the rear drivers side arm rest. The second is a picture of a reproduction vanity book.

Re: ID help..Town Car Vanity ???
Thanks again, Bob. I can see they are nothing alike, aside from the manufacturer. I am going back to the shed where this came from and now know what to look for, at least something similar. I managed to remove the little box and it turned out to be a matchbox holder ! The other 3 holed item is either an ashtray or cigarette dispenser. I would still like to hear any input from any Barner...perhaps a "T" Towncar ?

Try posting in the AACA "What is it" Forum. If anyone knows, someone there will.
