Default On german roads with a trailer

Hi all.

We love to travel with our "A"
Last year we went to Slowenia, two year ago we went to Italy (Rom)
(all german-blog with tons of pics (www.motor-talk.de/blogs/christoph2605)
This year we couldnt manage to go distance.
As so we decided to do a test on "camping" and bought a QEK-Junior Camp-Trailer. This was designed (some 50 years ago) to be in the back of Trabant-car (600cc and 26HP) in east-germany . We actually measured it 440kg (970lbs). Basically its a big bed, wraped in a plastic-cover

Will continiue...

First day we travelled close to the river "Main" to Bamberg.
Ja - we met an even tinier trailer a Citroen 2CV towing an "Eriba Puck"
Second day we went along river "Regnitz" and "Pegnitz" to the "Murner-See" (close o the border of CZ). Due to a prob with the pulley of the generator (and with distributor), we had to stay a day there (which aint a misshap)...
Rivets of pulley where gone and i hat to put in some screws.
Day 4 we went to (and along ) river of "Donau" to the "Grosser Brombachsee".
Day 5 we headed back home to Frankfurt.

Sum
A electrical heater is not sufficient in may as nights are cold and electric heater STINKS.... Trailer is tiny and we have to put things from the left to the right and back again...
Besides... 1000km of fun
Model A doing great and even after brake failure on the trailer it performed well .

See my blog to find more pics (sorry language there has to be german...)

Have fun to travel our wonderfull cars
Greetings Christoph

Thanks for the post! I was stationed in Nurnberg in 1960-61 and have been to many of the towns shown on your map.

Watch out, Terry! Last time I welcomed a new reader from Germany to this website in the German language, I got roundly jumped on, both publically and behind my back. And we wonder why we are losing participants on this site.

My German is so poor that no one will probably recognize it for what it trying to say! With that in mind do you think they would prefer Spanish? Or maybe Rycckoe? you'll note that I wasn't one of those who jumped on you! Too bad today we have No foreign languages except Pennsylvania Dutch and Cajun French, oh yeah, A lot of Spanish,. oh yeah again, Ebonics!

I have been to some of those sites. Very beautiful. A friend lives close to Frankfurt and his mother was in Nuestadt. I had a wonderful time with both friends there. Four days driving throughout the Black Forest also.

Looks like great fun. I love to travel German roads, even in a modern car. Sud Tirol to Insbruck via the Brenner Pass is also a great drive for the view.

Beautiful country, Christoph! And a Model A would make the trip even more enjoyable! I would love to see it someday. My ancestors came to the US from Zella-Mehilis and Storchesnest.

My wife and I have done tens of thousands of miles towing a camper heavier than that van around the outback. Not wanting to sound like I'm claiming to be the guru, I'd be happy to exchange PMs with you on the matter. We are away at the moment, so it might take a day for me to reply.

Hell Terry there are a lot of Americans I can't understand, purportedly they speak some form of English but it isn't the King's English it is dribble. Completely unintelligible and don't even attempt to read their written word it is an assault on the eyes.

Thank you all for your nice comments, which i really appreciate.

@JDupuis. Thanks mate. Happy trails to you too. Looking forward to read about 😊

@JimBrierley. Aint it time to see germany again? Ist nice to travel (even without „A“).
Nürnberg (and Franken-area) . It is about good food, nice beer and great country.

@DennisKliesen. Wheels are similar to yours – arent they? Not original but really a yellow. This color is RAL1023 which is called „Verkehrsgelb“ over here. (i like it as my car is sooo dark and it looks more colorfull now
I like the pic with the workshop and the calendar too. It is not my workshop. When generator quit working we had to stop on Murner-See-Camp-Ground and the manager there was so kind to open the workshop of the camp-ground just for me (You bet, my workshop looks different, but this one is a time travel right into the 1950s 😊

@Jeff/Illinois. It is my pleasure. As i love to see „A“-pics in other parts of this planet, i guess you like that too….

@Terry, NJ 😊 Heino is still famous 😊 As we travelled Regions of Franken, Bayerischer Wald and Böhmerwald it might be more of Ronny…. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsEunWVf2ms
Once you travel germany, and you arrive in Frankfurt, it will be my pleasure to give you a Model-A-ride in the Frankfurt Area 😊

@ George Miller. Ja – it is a car and we love to travel it. We do about 10000km (6500miles) per year AND WE LOVE IT.

@PC/SR Come back and have fun . You will like !

@Marshall V. Daut. I am not really new here 😊 and i love that all of you are so nice to me. We are united in our love to the Model-A .

@ DaveyMC29 Black-Forrest is nice too. Actually this planet is sooo beautifull if you travel a Model-A.
Once you arrive in Frankfurt, make sure to do a stop and grab a coffe at my place 😊

@kd4lok As you might see on www.motor-talk.de/blogs/christoph2605, we travelled lots of Europe with our „A“ and we have been in Süd-Tirol not just once. Another great place to b e

@49FordV8F4 Go for it. Life is short…

@Synchro909 Sounds good to me . Did sent you a mail.

@ 3,6rs Good eyes mate 😊 I use red numbers as i try to make you think i am from Belgistan 😊
Actually we travelled all Europe and never had probs with that „red“ registration ..Well just once, police stoped us and had a look into the papers….. jaaaa it was in Belgium. But they where very nice to me and let us go on…. Those red numbers (called „rote 07-Nummer“) are a very german (NOT EUROPEAN) special-registration for collector-cars. High insurance- and tax-costs , but usable on up to 10 cars and bikes…

All of you have a great „A“-day
and thank you again for your thoughts

I'd like to go back to Germany just for the bread. I don't understand why I can't find the same good bread in this country that I had over there in 1987.
