No recommendation, as I have not needed this kind of service, but I did have in my info book a place in Ohio called Ron's! At least from their ad, they seemed to do anything and everything on engines and transmissions including babbit. You might try googling on Ron's, Ohio and babbit and see what shows up. My memory is Ron's did both babbit and inserts. Good luck on finding someone that meets your needs, and hope this helps.

I am familiar with “Rons”.
unfortunately, he’s about a four hour drive from Cleveland.
Looking at doing inserts at this point.
Thanks

Be sure the machinist understands the process. Things like crank to cam center line distance and thrust bearing set up, for starters. You don't want to ruin a good block.

It's not exactly Ohio, but I recommend Dennis Piranio of Piranio Antique Automotive in Denton, Texas. Excellent babbit and machine work. If you are planning on a touring engine, I suggest you talk to him or look at his website. For me he rebabitted and line bored the block, counterbalanced the crank, machined 35 lbs off the flywheel for Ford V8 clutch, bigger valves, higher lift cam, high compression head. He did all of the machine work and I assembled the engine, but he will do it all if you want. Very meticulous and knowledgeable. And by the way, he recently set the land speed record at the El Mirage dry lakes beds at 150 MPH for a Model A Coupe!

IMO, Inserts are the way to go. Last longer and love hard work. Clean oil, I’m told is important though.
