Up for sale today is a beautiful example of an American hot rod. It is an original 1930 Ford Model A 5 window coupe. A complete ground up restoration has just been completed on this hot rod, and is now ready to be enjoyed for miles to come. It has less then 200 miles on the odometer.

First off, is the frame. The chassis started off at Thunder Road in Mansfield, Ohio. There Zack and Pat set the new frame rails in the jig and began the construction. The frame was boxed and new tubular cross members were installed. The front end consists of a new Superbell I-Beam drop axel, with super slider leaf springs, and a Hairpin front suspension with GM disc brakes. The rear end was bought brand new complete from John’s and is a 9” set up with 3.50 open gears with the larger drum brakes. A triangulated set up with Posie quarter eliptical springs completes the rear end. The complete chassis and suspension parts were all painted a gloss black to prevent chips and scratches. To stop the car, it has a Corvette master cylinder with all new stainless lines. The chassis rides on a new set of painted 15” steelies, wrapped in rubber, Kelly 195/65/r15 in the front and 235/75/r15 in the rear and finished off with smooth hubcaps.

The best part of the car has to be the original body. The body is unchopped, not channeled, still has the original style vinyl top, and the gas tank has been moved to the rear. The car was originally found locally, and the body was near perfect when he started on it. Only small patches were placed in the rear quarters, other then that, it was perfect. The firewall was also replaced with a new one from Brookville, in order to have it recessed for the Y-Block. The fenders on the front are original and the rears are reproduction steel. All four fenders are steel and have been sprayed with Line X underneath and it has new running boards. The grill is a new one from Brookville and has an AlumiCraft grill insert. This body, once fixed, was good enough to run in all bare metal. But that wasn’t good enough, so the car was sprayed with the best PPG had to offer.

Inside the car is all brand new. A 1936 Ford dash was grafted to fit inside and it displays a new set of New Vintage gauges. Under the dash is all wired up using Centec Wiring. The steering in the car is a new Limeworks column, topped with a shrunk 40 Ford wheel, Flaming River Joints, and finished off with a new Unisteer steering box. The seat in the car is new from WiseGuys, covered in a rich beige colored material. The interior in the car is reminiscent of the 1950’s styling with roll and tuck pleating and a fine wool carpet is on the floor. Behind the metal garnish moldings is all new lightly tinted glass, with new regulators and cat whiskers finishes up the interior. An old Hot Rodders trick was used and a set of 1956 Chevy wing vents were installed and works perfectly. Power windows and power wipers are also installed.

The power plant of the car is a thoroughly rebuilt 292 Y-BLock. Everything in this motor is brand new, from the pistons, to the rods, from the valves to springs, to lifters, oil pump, oil pickup, Comp cam, ect. The engine has a 3.800 Bore, a 3.600 Stroke, and is built with the best G-Heads. A pair of new 450 Holly’s, with progressive linkage, sit on top of a new Edelbrock Intake. Fuel is fed from the Vintique 32 gas tank with braided AN lines. An Aluminum radiator keeps the car cool with the help of a Side Winder fan from The Fan Man. A MSD Distributor runs the MSD wires for spark. A set of original polished Thunderbird Valve covers dresses up the engine. The exhaust headers were custom hand built then sent out to have Jet Hot coated and then travel out the back through 2.25” exhaust with the help of a set of Xlerator Turbo mufflers for that perfect sound. Nothing but the best went into this engine at a cost of over 10 Grand. Behind the engine is a conversion kit from Flat-o-matic to adapt the Y-block to a C4 transmission. The C-4 was professionally rebuilt and had a 2400 stall convertor used and a finned pan from Hughes. It is shifted with a new Lokar Shifter.

As you can see, alot of time and money, especially the money part, went into this car. This car is being sold in order to let someone else enjoy it while I move onto the next project. I forgot to mention that it also has a new Brookville original style hood painted to match that goes with it. It is sold with a good Ohio title in my name. Email me or Give me a call and lets talk. Pm with an email address for more pictures, or head over to the HAMB for all the pictures of it.
