Model B mechanical fuel pump pressure?
Is anyone running a Model B engine using the mechanical fuel pump; if so what is the fuel pressure using the mechanical fuel pump?
Thanks Last edited by Benson; 08-04-2015 at 02:16 PM. Reason: spelling |

Re: Model B maechanical fuel pump pressure?
I have run them in the past but never measured the pressure. I'm sure it is not much, 2-3 lbs.?

Re: Model B mechanical fuel pump pressure?
Thanks Jim,
I want to use an electrical pump instead of rebuilding a mechanical pump .... Last edited by Benson; 08-05-2015 at 02:45 PM. Reason: correction and spelling |

Re: Model B mechanical fuel pump pressure?
I have a 12 volt pump (Facet brand) that puts out around 2 psi.

Re: Model B mechanical fuel pump pressure?
I'm using a 12 volt Holley with a 3 ohm 50 watt resistor in line to supply the fuel for my 1950 6 volt Studebaker. Without the resistor, the pump (even at half voltage) puts out too much pressure and volume.

Re: Model B mechanical fuel pump pressure?
The pump's output pressure is dependent on the pressure head it pumps against. As the Model "A" lubrication system is open to the atmosphere via the crankcase vent, the pressure developed will very low.

Re: Model B mechanical fuel pump pressure?
We used a FILT-O-REG, adjustable pressure regulator, are they still available?

Re: Model B mechanical fuel pump pressure?
Pressure regulators usually reduce flow.

Re: Model B mechanical fuel pump pressure?
The A doesn't use much fuel, a regulator will not be a problem, I use one on each of my A's.

Re: Model B mechanical fuel pump pressure?
I have used 1 and they must be under 3 psi as it worked great with both Holley 94 and a Stromberg both of which need less than 3 psi
