Re: 64 ranchero
Someone here will know, but if you searched the falcon sites you probably could get an answer. I used to be on ranchero USA, they have alot of falcon/ranchero guys. Mark

Re: 64 ranchero
You should just have to remove your steering wheel, Pitman Arm from bottom of box, undo the throughbolts that go through the body into the box. Disconnect the wiring harness, undo connection for auto shifter , undo clamp which holds column to the dash, remove plates that cover and seal floor around column and thats about it...I think.
And be careful of your hoodlining and back window while you try to manipulate the column out through your door John. |

Re: 64 ranchero
Hold it , had a better look at your question....forget about removing the box, just have to undo the tranny selector, nut and bolt that clamps outer tube to steering box shaft, column tube to dash clamp , plates on floor and steering wheel ....not sure if you`ll slide it up over steering box shaft without removing as a whole unit though.

Re: 64 ranchero
Not sure on this model but most of the time you remove the shaft with the column by disconnecting it at the steering box. Should be a clamp or rag joint at steering box/column junction.

Re: 64 ranchero
Sorry, I misunderstood your question. I thought you were asking how to remove the whole steering column. Yes, I believe you have to remove the wheel from the SHAFT before in can be removed from the TUBE. I memory serves me there is a clip at the top of the shaft holding the bearing in.
