Default Removing rear brake lever pin

Know any good tricks for removing the rear brake lever pins so you can separate the lever from the camshaft? I ground the head off and have been pounding on it with a pin punch but it won't budge. Bigger hammer?

When I done mine I carefully drilled the center of the pin with a small drill until it came out of the other side where I could see how close I had drilled it to center, I then drilled the hole a little bigger. This relieved the pin and I was able to knock it out with a pin punch. Hope this helps

I grind both sides and drill the center from both sides. It seems pretty difficult to drill dead center all the way through from one side. Usually once you drill both sides the punch knocks it right out.

Sparkey , I do similar to what Afordmam31 did only I grind the head off , center punch and drill a 7/32 or so hole about I/2 " deep from both sides . This leaves a place in the center to push against with a 3/16" pin punch. Sometimes I shear the pin after drilling from both sides as described above . Make a fixture out of a 1 1/2 "piece of pipe about 4" long to support the roller track, cut a notch about 5/8 " deep on one side for clearance and press camshaft out with a 5/8" or so pin . This also works on the service brake cross shaft if you back it up with a bearing splitter or home made backer made like the bearing splitter. On the cross shaft remove the bushings before pressing off. Hope this helps Bubby Sharp in KY

Update:

I got the pins out, and I am about to separate the arms from the shafts using Bubby's method. I was wondering, were the arms and shafts originally match drilled so the holes aligned perfectly? If so I'll need to be careful to mark the matching pairs.

They are not match drilled. That is how you can replace the shaft and reuse the old arm. Just make sure you note which side the arms came off of.
