Re: Y-block distributor wrench ?
No, it's not a 9/16, it's a 1/2. You can just use a short 1/2 box end wrench, but most guys tighten them down to at least 95# torque so that might be difficult. Anyway, Snap-on S8564B is the correct one, but S9707 will also work tho in my estimation, not as well in a tight situation. They will pretty much work on all Fords.

Re: Y-block distributor wrench ?
I don't have any of those. I happen to have a double-offset 1/2" and 9/16" box end wrench that is perfect for the distributor hold-down clamp bolt. I didn't buy it in a store. Probably picked it up in a rummage sale in the early '70's. It is a dandy. I use it for a lot of stuff. Never seen one like it anywhere in any size.

Re: Y-block distributor wrench ?
If you have one of those sets of 1/8" drive sockets and reversible socket wrench, it would probably work also (without an extension). But you'd need to stand on the exhaust manifolds like I do when using my offset wrench. It don't need to be super tight. They got a lockwasher on 'em. The original bolt is 1/2" hex.

Re: Y-block distributor wrench ?
After dropping a number of wrenches down on top of the bell housing, I took my favorite 1/2 - 9/16 box and ran a shoe lace through the big end. Wrap it around your wrist twice and get to work. It was never lost.

Re: Y-block distributor wrench ?
Thank you all for the input. I bought a Snapon S8564B and a Proto 6540 on e-bay, both work OK, the Proto 6540 works the best. Yes, they are 1/2".
