Default Tempeture sensor connection

On a 59A engine there are two sensors for the temp. unit. the drivers side has two connecting points the Pasenger side has one. Does it make any difference which connecting point is used for the crossover wire? I have looked in every book I have and don't see any instruction on this ?

One is a variable sender for the gauge (one connection) and the other is an on/off switch (two connections) to just indicate an over heat condition. Connections shouldn't make any difference.

In contrast to what J Seery has said (which is nearly always good information), I believe the single terminal sender is wired to the double terminal sender, which in turn is wired to the gauge. I guess that means the single terminal sender is earthed through its body and there is probably a right and wrong way around to wire the double terminal sender.
In the pictures the taller terminal is wired to the guage, and the short one to the single terminal sender.

There are two temperatures being checked by this system. The single terminal sender gives a graduated reading of that side of the engine, while the double terminal sender is basically an on off switch which (on its own) either makes the gauge read cold or hot (for the other side of the engine)

I hope that is a clear explanation

Here is a drawing if that helps any. I don't think reversing the leads on the two terminal senders would make any difference, but if you want it wired like the drawing, here it is. Not sure where Bluebell is seeing any difference from what I posted at first, but he did add some additional clarification!
