Default Correct Radiator for 40 Deluxe

Anybody know if the correct 40 car Deluxe radiator has the filler neck on the 45 degree flat or in the center. I see them both ways new but not the angled one in brass, only aluminum. I want to stick with brass but want one an original 40 configuration. Running the flathead.

The deluxe uses the same radiator as the standard. Contact the Brassworks and he will set up your radiator any way you need it.

I have a 40 Deluxe with a split core, hole for the hand crank and the filler is in the middle on top. It looks original but it could have been replaced 40-50 years ago before I owned the car.

No authentic 1940 Ford passenger car radiator had the filler in the center of the top tank.
The only correct radiator for a '40 passenger car, regardless of model, has the filler at an angle and a split core.
There will always be "91A" stamped in the top tank. Some time around March, 1940, Ford began outsourcing some of the radiator manufacturing. At that time, the "91A' was stamped in the upper tank as well as other identifying markings that indicated the supplier to Ford. The radiators manufactured by Ford had "B1" stamped in them as well as either the letter "D" (Dearborn plant) or the letter "G" (Green Island plant). Radiators supplied by Modine had "B2" stamped in them and those supplied by McCord, had "B3".

Thanks, that's what I thought about the filler neck.

The radiator out of my '40 deluxe has the 91A stamping at the right front corner along with L just below. It has the center top fill and crank hole but is not a split core. Aftermarket, dealer replacement or ???

Another vote for BrassWorks. Or if you want to save a few bucks, Drake is advertising split core brass radiators for '40 Fords. My guess is that they are off shore but I'm not positive. Photo from Drakes catalogue. If it was up to me I'd go with BrassWorks over Drake but that's JMO.

I think your guess is probably most accurate. No doubt China. I don't believe Bob has made anything in the USA for a number of years. Bob? Are you out there? What say you?
