eBay Winfield
Anyone here buy the Winfield carb on eBay?
Outa my price range. Aussie dollar is looking like a peso at the moment. Don't know why. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Winfield-Ca...2500108?_ul=AU |

Re: eBay Winfield
I bid on this Winfield SR BB but was out bid by $10 at the last second, (probably using Auction Stealer software). I did buy a Winfield SR BB with a matching Winfield downdraft manifold earlier this year for $800 on eBay. The carb will require a complete rebuild, but was complete. The going prices for Winfield S and SR carbs these days is between $500 and $800, unfortunately..... It will be interesting to see what impact a Winfield downdraft carb will make on a touring engine...

Re: eBay Winfield
IMO that is too pricey for a BB Winfield. CC or D, OK.

Re: eBay Winfield
Hi Jim,
I noticed the D's go for a fortune. I think one went for $1500 maybe with a manifold. They look huge. What does one do with one? |

Re: eBay Winfield
updraught, D size Winfields were used on bigger engines, even truck engines. Today they would only be used on modified engines where higher HP and RPM will come into play. I used an S-CC-D on my 4-port Riley for awhile. It ran good but had a flat-spot right off idle. That carb had been modified to run alcohol, as on race cars. I still don't know if the flat spot was because of the mods, or the carb was just too big for the engine???

You should have used a Winfield SR-CC-D which has an accelerator pump to eliminate the flat spot after idle. Winfield S carburetors did not have the accelerator pump. The pump was at the bottom of the float bowl and vacuum actuated. The amount of fuel squirted was also adjustable with a needle valve at the top of the float bowl. |

Re: eBay Winfield
I have a B Winfield for sale in the classifieds with no interest here or on the Hamb.
Complete and in good shape. I know the smaller sizes go for less, but it’s perfect for a mainly stock A engine. I didn’t want to, but I guess ebay is the place to sell. |

Re: eBay Winfield
Terry, I didn't/don't have any SR's. I have rebuilt a few for others, so know about them. I ran an S-C-D for years on my Winfield yellow head, and it ran great all the time. One year I returned from the Winfield Weekend on 1 tank of gas, 260 miles!
