Default 1932 Pickup Door Latch

The driver door latch on my 32 pickup looks to be very loose where it comes out of the door to mate with the striker. It slides in and out smoothly but seems to be floppy when extended out. Has anybody here experienced a similar situation and been successful in tightening one up?

Take the latch out. Give it a good cleaning. Replace the springs. Weld up the worn sliders. Turn the locating rivets a 1/4 turn. Tack weld. The slot where the latch sticks out may need welding up also.

Or buy a new one from United Pacific. Truck cab latches tend to have taken a beating over time.
