my front window when I crank it out it sometime sticks and is difficult to crank back in what could cause thank you

Most likely your mechanism needs to be lubed. Do you know the last time it was done?

a long time what is the proper way to lube it thank you

Sometimes the arms tend to catch through the slots.
You can feel them under the dash.
Also some WD40 or similar may help lubricate the crank mechanism - again probably need to do it from under the dash.

That's me on the left, my Gfather in front of me, we were at his farm in the Ozarks of AR. I was about 5 then (1949/50) so, I really don't remember but, my guess would be a chicken hawk.

My dad (not in the pic) worked at Meyer and Welch (authorize Ford Rebuider), at that time and the car had a 48 engine in it.

If your going to lubricate anything do not use WD-40 it is not a true lubricant. It is Water Displacement product. Lots of much better true lubricants to use.

With this in mind I would disconnect windshield from mechanism and see where it is sticking. If it is the mechanism it should be removed for inspection and lube. Over time the gear gets worn and may need to be replaced. In meantime use a helper to push windshield from outside when closing.

Thank you Terry! Any locksmith or clock repair guy will tell you never spray WD40 in a clock or lock.
A few years ago a car collector I was working for had a ‘61 Lincoln that you had to jiggle the ignition key to turn it on.
So I gave it a shot of WD and it never worked again, even one time, until I took the switch to a locksmith.
It works pretty good on window channel though. And kills termites.

My '35 had a similar issue......a bit of white lithium grease solved it.......now cranks in/out with ease.

You can get spray lithium with the plastic tube to get into difficult places. You symptoms sound more like worn gears. Gears are pot metal and they do wear.
