Brake and clutch lever shaft removal

I'm trying to replace the bushings and the shaft they are mounted on having trouble removing the pin in the bell housing holding the shaft in place. Any special way of removing this pin? I've used a sharp chisel and tapped around the pin and got it to raise a 1/16 to maybe 1/8 and doesn't want to come any farther I've applied sea foam penetrating oil to it. Any suggestions ?

I'm guessing everything is still in the car. I would say get a pair of vice grips on it, more penetrating oil and pull real hard. I think I also remember hearing of people that cut the cut off the head and drove it through into the bell housing.

Real difficult to do in the car.
I would try rebushing the pedals before removing the shaft while still
In the car.
I speak from experience!
The hard part is pulling the shaft. The harder part is reinstalling the shaft.
The time to replace the shaft is with the bell housing out of the car IMHO.

Bob Thanks for your reply I believe that is what I'll do my bushings are wore very very thin even down to metal a little on the outside edge so I'll get rid of a lot of slop just by rebushing them if ever have to pull the transmission put a new shaft in then

While you are reworking the pedals, this is a good time to get the pedals to be even with each other. The pedals are forged steel I believe, and can be welded to correct for the wear.

We rebushed my pedals last spring and it made a world of difference. Not really a hard job. I didn't have grease fittings on the pedals so we drilled them and added the fittings. Try that, it might help.
