Default Dome LIght and Rear View Mirror help....

HELLO....I have a '36 Ford pickup and want to order the correct Rear View Mirror and Dome Light and Dome Light Switch. In the one photo, is this feature above the Rear Window for the Dome Light and/or Dome Light Switch. In the other photo, there are no holes in the Horizontal or Vertical position for Rear View Mirror mounting. Can someone send me a photo of the correct Rear View Mirror and Dome Light. I want to order new Rear View Mirror and Dome Light with Dome Light Switch.

Thank you,

Bruce Smith

I don't think that a dome light was available for the commercial vehicles in that era. My '39 never had one and I see no mounting holes or brackets in the body frame work for one. The '39 had holes for an inside mirror, but there is some question as to whether one was ever provided. My mirror has an 01C prefix on the part number that is cast in it.

Bruce, I only post this image to encourage you in your pursuit of a dome lamp for a 36 pickup. In mid 1936 an accessory booklet came out that listed a dome lamp as an approved accessory for the drivers compartment. I have no other details for you. Keep looking.

Not a dome light but the 40 Tonner has an interior light for the cab that was mounted on the dash above the plate with the Ford logo and was operated with a pull/push button to the left of the steering wheel on the dash. It is a very sanitary installation possibly done by the dealer. The top 1/2 of the bulb was coated or painted with a silver coating that reflects the light down. Amazing that the 78 year old bulb still works....

My 35 just had a dash globe, Poor at best.
I ended up installing 4 led's inside as I couldn't see in winter time in the mornings. I rigged them up door activated as well.

I believe that there was not a interior rear view mirror, only hinge pin for 1936 pickups. As for the dome light, 1937 was the first year for that option. The key word here is option. It was not standard -- and there were Deluxe pickups.
If any pickup was going to have a interior rear view mirror, there would have been dimples in the metal header. And there is not on yours. (or mine)
What Don's picture shows you looks like all the items that made up a Deluxe pickup. Ironically, the drivers side spare option is missing.

I wonder if the holes pictured above the rear window opening may have been for the optional rear slider window that was available for those models. There was a knob that acted as a lock of sorts.
