Model A 1930 rear fenders
I would like to know from some one if 1930 and 1929 rear fenders are the same. I have a friend who wants to use 1929 rear fenders on his 1930 two door sedan that were on a 1929 tudor sedan. He wants to buy the 29s from me and wants to use them on his 30 two door sedan. Thanks for the help

Re: Model A 1930 rear fenders
29 rear fenders are diff. then 30-31 fenders & not interchangeable. The radius that fits around the splash apron is diff.

The 30-31 fenders also sweep back further. Next time you see them parked side by side compare.

Not only years, but open and closed cars.

Saw a '30 Coupe with '29 FENDERS/SPLASH SHIELDS/RUNNING BOARDS----"Did they fit easily"?----"Don't know, I bought it that way"!
Car looked a little "ODD"! Bill Mishmash

Re: Model A 1930 rear fenders
I've seen 29 fenders with more of a cutout to accommodate the larger 30 splash apron. you could do this in a pinch but you couldn't go the other way.

My '29 & my '30 5 Window coupes, side by side, are like DIFFERENT cars! MOST body parts WON'T interchange! Many don't realize that Model A bodies were "re-designed" at the end of the '29s! Side beside, they look like a "FULL" sized & a "MID" sized car. '28 & '29 were chosen for Dry Lakes cars, because of the SMALLER frontal areas. BUT, to many, they still have that MODEL A "LOOK"! Re: Model A 1930 rear fenders
I made the same mistake! I have a 29 RH sedan rear fender in good shape, for sale. $75. I didn't realize they were different. Live and Learn!

- Mike, the years are right on those, but pretty sure they are for Coupe, Roadster, etc. and NOT SEDANS. The sedan fenders are considerably narrower on the top. |
