Competition for our hearts and minds.

It is a competitive world. There are two groups in particular who endeavour to control our minds and direct our thinking. One, political groups. The EU are or have endeavoured to control all aspects of European governance plus the UN who control many aspects of democratic governments and they too endeavour to control our thinking. Both the EU and UN are predominantly left wing.
The second group are the socialist left bodies many emanating from universities who are exerting control on governments for changes that are effecting us all. Many of these changes haven’t come to our attention. The latest trendy people in this group are the vegans who won’t consume either food or don clothing containing any animal products, for example even ugg boot slippers. These people have gone nuts. For example I went into subways and ordered a salad toasted roll. It was pointed out to me that the toasting oven has been used to cook bacon also eggs. Would that be acceptable? (as it wasn’t for vegans). What stupidity. But you haven’t heard it all yet. This morning I read in the BBC news that a German company is making a fortune manufacturing and marketing vegan condoms. Traditionally condoms contain casein which is a milk product and gives softness to the rubber. But vegan condoms ensure that no milking cow is humiliated and does not suffer stress or cruelty. This stress and cruelty is news to me and I grew up milking cows.
Just who is it that I am ridiculing? The supply chain? No. It is the market who have provided for these opportunists. And why do vegans think like this? I think for two reasons. 1, vegans are remote from primary industry and ignorant of farm practice and 2, social engineers have manipulated minds of gullible people who are unable to think and reason for themselves.
Who are these social engineers? They are the greens and those who call themselves the progressives. They are simply common old grubby radical lefties. They rebranded themselves in hope of being more socially acceptable. You’d be a sucker to believe too much of what you are told.

Quote for today. School teachers should teach kids how to think and not what to think.

It was a sad day.

It's an uncomfortable hot and humid day and I've chosen to do some admin and communicating jobs and that involves sitting in the aircon. I'm looking through files and deciding which ones are important and figured not very many. Whilst I don't see snuffing it as of immediate probability but I ask myself what will my kids want to keep and the answer is not very much, so I chuck most of it.

One file I opened was of letters, all hand written. They included one from a former school head master, and one from a school teacher who tells me she has dementia. One from a former boss, one from a cyclist from Vidor Tx aged 70 plus who was cycling through Australia and a widow of a friend, a gentleman, a war hero and an ace cropduster pilot who died of prostate at 58. History and friendships, many from those who have passed.

It has been sad to dispose of these files and sad to think about those who have made an impression on me or I have admired and those who have now passed. There are some who I have never met but communicated with. Wingski from this forum being just one.

Life is mostly good but does end with the sad event of death. Sorting this correspondence or deleting their names from our telephone directory or email address brings home to our minds the frailty and finality of life.

small mods have made such a difference.

Some time ago I had Synchro rebuild a starter motor for me. You all know Synchro through his contribution to this forum. He passed a comment to me that gave me a change of mind when he said he had “drivers cars”.
Well I have no intention of changing wheels to mags or putting a modern motor in my A’s, it has made me think about updating some things. It now has a 6v alternator. A steering column support will be added to take the weight off the fuel tank which will serve as a switch board for the troublesome horn and light switches. I will add turning indictors to the motor car with the control switch plus a water temp gauge mounted on that support.
I have removed the seat swab and replaced it with a medium density foam covered with comparable vinyl. I have removed a row of springs from the cushion and modified the base to accommodate. It is now much easier to climb in and out and gives more leg room when driving. My concern about being visible at the rear in night has been overcome with a pulsating red light just like cyclist display.
So many small mods can make such a difference without detracting from the basic motor car.

some great shots there of the cars at the rally in the dust. I notice an A also a T. the skimps shown in the Kalgoorlie pub are not typical. skimps wear only a postage stamp and a little see through fabric. those in the pictures were fully clothed by comparison. I guess a little too hot for Auntie to show. cheers, gary

The aeroplane in the picture is a Stearman. Designed in the mid 20’s by Lloyd Stearman and flew in 1927. The business was sold to Boeing in 1934 and that model was later used as a military trainer for WW2 pilots. Over 10,000 were built. After the war they were used extensively for cropdusting. I have no idea just how many are still airworthy today but they are a coveted model.
I had to look carefully to identify the type because it first appeared as if it may have been a Grumman AgCat of which I once had 3 and I think they are great. The straight wings identified it where as the Grumman has dihedral. ie wings rise towards the tips and this provides stability. I will endeavour to print a picture of both. I said endeavour because I have a different type of computer and I am not all that familiar with it. After an hour and a half I got it.

Are The wildfires we are hearing about here in the states causing you problems?


Having lived in the Pacific Northwest where forest fires were an annual occurrence, I feel the pain you guys must be going through.

Yes the fires have been devastating. Lives lost, housing and property lost plus livestock and native animals destroyed.
Much of this has occurred because of political weakness when governments have been held to ransom by greens or kowtowed to them and radical conservationists. Fuel reduction burns in the winter have not occurred. More and more land has been designated “national parks” and not managed at all. Roads and tracks into and out of have not been maintained. Local councils have prevented land holders from clearing around houses and buildings so as to maintain aesthetic value.
All of this is because 2 factors have come together. Bureaucracy and stupidity. Many of those who did not vote for this current government are blaming the Prime Minister for climate change so there is political opportunism occurring. In addition we have a major drought. Pastures and undergrowth are very dry. The reason for this drought is 2 factors coinciding. One, Indian Ocean dipole where the warm water is in the west of that ocean, that is along the African east coast and secondly, we have El Nino where the warm water is in the centre of the Pacific Ocean and on the west coast of North and South America. This leaves the cool water on both sides of Australia, thus less evaporation providing less or little rain. In addition to those factors we have arsonists. Kids seeking action and activity. Those with a grievance towards society and fire fighters who look for action. The climate change activists are taking political opportunity of both the fires and drought.
And of course home owners who don’t take sufficient care. For example they don’t keep their gutters clean and even leave combustible material around the house. And for the price of a large TV screen they could purchase a concrete water tank and bury it to provide themselves with protection whilst a fire passes.
Even if we have had good management we still would have had fires but less damage.
Now the firefighting management decisions are made by those who sit in aircon offices in state capitals or major cities wearing badges and braid and they just love having meetings. Whilst I am critical of them, I am not critical of those on the fire face.
This is coming from a pilot who has worked as a fire bomber. In my experience firebombing is most effective until bureaucracy becomes involved. Too many making up a chain of command and too many egos involved.

So to sum up the reasoning. Nil fuel reduction burning in winter, political weakness, drought, arson and complacency. Does this writer agree with climate change? Yes. It started 12,000 years ago with the ending of the last ice age. Has man contributed? Possibly, but so many lies and exaggerations have been made I am quite sceptical.

In central Arizona several years ago 19 firefighters burned to death less than 1/4 mile from safety due to numbskull desk drivers, miles away in Phoenix, putting themselves in charge of how to fight the fire, when and where to evacuate, etc. Of course, they had that big wall map and radio reports (delayed), so what could go wrong?

I have found new pages found on this forum. One page was from Jim Brierley (plug oil leak) and the other from Tom Wesenberg (cardboard box beneath the bridge). Both written in 2018. I never responded for I didn’t know they existed. My apologies to you both. I don’t seem to be able to open them, maybe with age they are stale?
