1931 Tudor Restoration- chassis almost done

Hey guys! I have got a lot done on my tudor restoration these past few weeks so i figured i'd share some of my progress with you guys. Hope you guys could let me know how im doing. Comments and advice are always welcome

Just wanna warn you guys that it may not be a first place winner restoration but I hope Im doing a good job for a 19 year old with my negitive bank account (college and gas for jeeps drain you money flow).

UPDATE: 9-28-11 Got the engine in today! Will post up pictures of today's progress tonight. I have updated my parts needed list also.

Looks like some nice work! Glad to see that you have a willing partner in your project.

It's looking good. The square cut ends on the spring leaves means it's an aftermarket spring, but that only matters for points in judging. Just make sure the outside edges are beveled on the top leaf, so they fit in the curve of the front crossmember.

Also, make sure the frame doesn't have a sag by the rear motor mounts. Now is a good time to check it, and easy to fix if it sags. Just pull a string tight along the top of the frame on each side. There should be no air gap near where the rear motor mounts are mounted to the frame.

I found the greatest challenge was to keep track of all the parts in various stages of restoration. Zip lock baggies and label everything! Really exciting when big stuff starts to go together, isn't it?

Greg, I did exactly that but its the ziplock bags thank seem to grow legs and dissapear LOL

Don't forget to cotter key and saftey wire evrything that needs it, its a bear to crawl under later to do it.

Yeah I plan on cotter keying everything that i havent after the parts get adjusted and tested before the body goes on.

Hang onto that car thru your college years don't let it go. I've heard so many stories over the years about guys that sold their collector cars at that stage in life to gather together some cash, it would fill a big book.

They still make money. They don't make Model A Fords anymore. The money will work itself out just 'forget' you've got an antique car in the garage. Let it sit for a while if you have to, but don't give in to the 'urge' to sell you will regret it later. And when you finish college and start working you'll be glad you still have the 'A'.

I know i will never sell my tudor no matter what!
