Default Distributor position

How do I know how to line up the distributor in my 8BA? I have the pin lined up with the dimple on the front pulley. Should the rotor point to #1 position on the cap?

Yes. You will be either correct or 180 degrees out.
TDC should be at compression stroke for No1.

msstring: Here's some helpful reading.

Remember, that pin is already pre- positioned 2 degrees before TDC.
