1940 Ford Lower Hood Trim
1940 Ford Lower Hood Trim: Can any one tell me how to attach the 2 trim pieces that go on the bottom front edge of the hood? One end has the round hole on it. I have the springs from a hood/grill kit, but the springs are to short to stay secured. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

There are two distinctly different sets of springs depending on what model '40 you have - Deluxe or Ford V8. My guess is you have an incorrect set.

Re: 1940 Ford Lower Hood Trim
Larry, Here's how my DeLuxe pass side lower hood trim piece is attached. The little screw you see hold the little curved vent trim in place and is covered by the lower hood trim piece. The thin piece of wood door skin you see is my version of a heat deflector that some folks mount above grille. It is "siliconed" in place.

Re: 1940 Ford Lower Hood Trim
Larry, "Kube's info. makes lots of sense. When you lay your little curved trim piece on the metal does it match the curvature? If it does, could you relocate the attaching hole if the metal has already been painted. If not, sand down the Bondo , if there is any, to conform to the OEM fit of the trim piece. Then repaint.
