Either one, same thing. Getting it from the store would be quicker if that is important.

Does a dehumidifier really produce distilled water?

Is this for the radiator? The Mfg's of additives, water wetter types, anti corrsion and etc can't all agree on what is best. The best answer I got was from one of their teck desk guys and he said he uses rain water in his older engines. Just throwing it out, but when it rains again I will be saving me some to use.

Yes it does produce Distilled water but also has lint and other airborn contaminates. Rain water is also distilled water but has all the contaminates from the roof, gutters and downspouts used in collection. Make sure the water you buy labels it " Water by distillation" or you may be getting nothing but filtered tap water.

Gentleman, distilled water from the process of distilling. Which is from extracting water vapors with heat or evaporation in this case a more pure process under ideal conditions. The dehumidification is a water that is collected from the environment, which is not very pure because of the surrounding chemicals in the house and the air. Sometimes you will even see a slime collecting from the impure conditions.
Many times you can find distilled water a the local store for a dollar or less. And as much as you want. Filtered water is just as it is stated " Filtered" which will not remove all chemicals. Just my 2 cents........ Gordon

Last time I had a problem on the road I was glad to use water from a puddle ---the sediment even stopped the leak.

Use the water from city supply mixed 50/50 with anti freeze. The 100,000,000+ vehicles on the road in us can't possibly be wrong think about it.If you drink it use it in your rad.

I like to use the water from our under sink R O.(reverse osmosis) I know that is the best I can get . Saw a topic on the tube where a guy in a lab had water in a vessel that was -40 & still liquified then he inserted a metal rod & pow instant ice. He said pure water will not freeze as it is the impurities that make the water freeze as he demonstrated.

Now, if you believe in the above, you must also believe in the tooth fairy!

Distilled water in the radiator? Maybe in a Ferrari, but in an old Ford? What is the problem with water from the hose? Just get out and drive them instead of arm chair engineering. JMO

I would not count on that. Super cooled water will solidify if disturbed in any way.
Where are the guys that believe ,as I do , that totally demineralized water
will erode the cooling system.

When I was a kid, lived out in the country, my mother would only use rain water to was her hair. The water from the well was so hard you couldn't make soap bubble. Walt

Our tap water has so much calcium in it I don't think it would take long to plug up the radiator and coat other surfaces to inhibit thermal transfer so I always use distilled water. Doesn't cost much by the gallon at the grocery store.

x2. Use tap water unless tests show it to be unusable. In that case, you probably wouldn't want to drink it, either....jack

If I have to explain it to all you nay sayers you still wouldn't understand. Use horse pee if you want(Icould care less) I'm just stating what is best for me. As far as the pure water not freezeing I'm only reporting what I observed on the PBS Tv station.

Doug I live on the wrong side of town, we get all the dust, no rain, all the air pollution, crazy drivers, all the stop signs and dirt streets .... but like it just the same.

Super cool will freeze, exactly what brought down Air France 447 over the south Atlantic last year. Filtered tap water should be sufficient.

I work on diesel engine generators, we mix all our antifreeze with distilled water. Generators are used at temps down to -60(some are outside). We have many units that have reached well beyond the 30,000 hour mark.
Does it make a difference??? I don't know, I still use tap water in my cars.
