I just got a 1930 Cabriolet. It has the Pertonix ignitor 6 volt pos ground.I would greatly appreciate if one of you more experienced Model A lovers could point me to a site that explains how to check it out. Thanks in advance.

Try FS ignitions in Oklahoma on line. They have similar instructions or try the Pertronix web site.

It either works and the engine runs or it doesn't.

FYI: If you are or ever do experience any trouble with these electronic modules, the first thing to check is that it has a good ground connection.

I gave up on my electronic distributor and went back to the stock system. Now my model A runs better than ever, plus I now have control of the spark on hills.

With all do respect to Glenn in Camino, the Per-Lux Ignitor, Petronics and now the FS have been around for 35 years. Created to run stationary engines 24/7, the electronic ignitions are pretty much bullet proof. Unlike others here, I will admit my FS failure was self inflected due to not following directions. I have used these ignitions in classic cars, a 1942 Chris-Craft, Catalina 30 inboard and four Model A's without any issues.

Mickey Remund (engine builder for Mickey Thompson) perfected the Petronix for Model A's and early Ford V-8's and sold the business to FS when he retired.

As others have noted, call FS for info.

I just passed 90,000 on my Nu-Rex this Fall while on a road trip. Only issue I have ever had was a weak ground connection.

Best ignition system for a Model A. Install it and forget it. You never have to worry about point gap and timing again. Have had mind for 9 years and 13,000+ miles and have yet to adjust the timing.

I found the problem today. A wire was loose in one of the lugs. Used a new lug and crimped properly. It now runs great.
