1942 pickup question
On the 1942 pickup hood, it had a Ford script badge on the trailing edge (one each side) rather than the pressed script of the post war pickup hood.
Now mine has the holes but I don't have the script, is the script same size And hole clocking ad the 1939-1940 passenger car hood script? I believe the 1939 is all chrome and the 1940 has red painted sides to the script, I assume the 1942 script was all chrome, same as 1939. Am I heading in the right direction here? Many thanks. Martin. |

Re: 1942 pickup question
Martin,
The 1942 hood script is not the same as the 1939. The script is larger and approximately 1/4 inch in thickness. It mounts with two pins on the backside. They were made out of a pot metal substance that is very brittle. I've been looking but have not found an original set in good condition. I'm in the process of working with a metal processing company to make a couple of sets of this hood script. This is what I have so far. I will keep you posted. |
