Default evap-o-rust

Just cleaned my 53 victoia cooling system, I bought 3 qts 1 year ago , in quart container, on the container it said to use one quart per gallon of water replaced. I did this, ran for an hour on the highway @ 75 mph, didn't heat up, I decided to call evap-o-rust wondering if I could leave it in and run it tomorrow. He said I should use it straight then drive to normal temp, let it set for 5 hrs. What have you guys done?

Interested also, as I'm about ready to do the same on my 39.
Chatted with Bruce L. He thinks using it straight and leaving is a good idea.
I think the same. We'll see

Its very good...just dont overdo it...any small crack with rust in now being sealed will open up.
Fill it up.
Run it.
Drain out the sludge and let the sludge go too the bottom of a container reuse the rest.
Flush system.
Inspect if needed do it over again.
Better to flush out the system a few times trying to keep it out of the radiator then running it for a real long time.

Just to clear things up a little, my evap-o-rust says concentrate. It seems to be working, I will let you know tomorrow, I will leave in overnight, then drive it and see what happens.

I filled my radiator with white vinegar, ran it a week and got a nasty orange foam and lots of black stuff

Drain it, give plenty of time to settle like in a 5 gal bucket. Leave all rid in bottom and reuse it again. You will get clean after a couple of times. However, I do caution you, if you had a crack, you will have opened it up. Proceed w caution. This stuff is pretty Good undiluted. Much getter than vinegar! Two different rust removal processes. Vinegar is light acid, evaporust is chelation

latest update: flushed complete system 2 times water ran clear, first drain black left alot of residue, filled radiator with pure water, ran until normal operating temp about 180 deg, drained and flushed. put in antifreeze plus 2 bottles of water wetter, took for a drive temp 190 deg. water seems to run cooler. may try test with plain water with lube.

160 degree thermostats, today I drove it around 1 pm city and rural higher ambient temperature 89 degrees, humidity 57% engine temp 210 degrees. I am sure the humidity
has a lot to do with getting hotter. yesterday it was 85 degrees 90% humidity. Next I am going to use water with anti rust. I was running AC all the time.

Have you tried to clean the core sand out of the block? This is running hot for 160 deg thermostats.

Johnny
Did you continue to use the Evaporust in a diluted form, or straight.
Thanks
Jim

I think water wetter with water works but when mixed with antifreeze not so much.

Is there any chance of damaging water pumps or seals when using any of theses cleaning solutions?

Drained antifreeze, filled with water plus added anti rust. ran about the same temp 90 deg weather @ 75 mph in od it got to 210 deg. I will add wetter water and see what does.

I just finished running Evaporust in the cooling system to clean the engine and radiator. I left it in for four days, running it up to operating temperature twice a day. I drained it out [it was black] and put it back into the 5 gallon bucket for later use. I flushed out the cooling system with water running the engine the entire time. I had both drain cocks wide open with hose in radiator. Water came out the top of the radiator and both drains. I hoped to flush out anything that had not been dissolved. After a long flushing session I shut it off and drained it.

I let it set while with the radiator cap off and both drains open hoping some of the water would evaporate out. After a few hours I filled it with Evans Waterless Coolant. I only took it for a drive of a few miles, but it seems to cool fine. The good thing is there will be no more rust ever!
