'47 Super Deluxe V8 Brake Light Switch
Tail lights work fine, but the brake lights are not working. The wiring at the connectors on the switch is frayed, and at the very least, the connectors need replaced. Not sure where those two wires come from. Also, it looks wet around the switch. Can the switch leak where it is screwed into the master cylinder?

Re: '47 Super Deluxe V8 Brake Light Switch
They usually leak over time where the plastic is crimped to the housing. There are
two styles one with bullet connectors or one with screws I bought the screw type at Napa around 5 bucks for a 46. My wires were a little frayed to so I slid some shrink tubing on the wire crimped new loop terminals slid tubing back onto terminal lit a match on the tubing looks good and done. sam |

Re: '47 Super Deluxe V8 Brake Light Switch
Brake light switches do go bad over time. I usually keep an extra one on hand as every few years I seem to be replacing mine. The switch is operated by hydraulic pressure so it can certainly leak brake fluid. I have been able to change the switch without bleeding the brakes, but check your peddle firmness when you are done. The wiring in simple. One side has power and the other goes to your brake lights. When you put hydraulic pressure on the switch it completes the circuit and lights the brake lights. The wires can go on ether terminal and the circuit will still work.
