Default Do I go with this fella?

Have any of you had any dealings with:

Jeff Steinke of Specialized Auto Marketing?

As you may know I have my 24 T for sale on several sites. I got a response from a fellow telling me that my car was absolutely incredible and underpriced. One of the best photographed presentations he had ever seen. And then - - - - -

He proceeds to tell me that I was wasting time and money and only getting looks not sales. If I paid him a few hundred dollars he could guarantee a sale before the holidays. He has special clients that are looking for quality cars. He would list it until sold. How can I possibly pass it up? (hmmm) He followed up his phone call with an email response so I would “know he wasn’t a scammer”. I don’t want to pass up a good thing if any of you have had positive dealings with him.

Thank you,
Fourdy

When I get those calls I tell them to buy & they can make all that money that they promise, never hear from them again.

I like B-O-B’s idea!!! Sell to him and then he can resell and make all the profit. I agree...,sounds like a scam.... Mark

I checked him out in the archives, didn't find anything bad here or on HAMB. The flag is that I also didn't find anything good. If he was doing a good job then there would should be good comments about him.

I would not give him any money up front, however I would ask what he would want to sell the car. Never give money up front.

This is his email to me. If he is legit then I wish him well and I may have missed out on a good deal. Think I'll just keep trying the old way. Thanks everyone.

Comments:
I talked to you a little while ago about putting your car into my private auction I run for private sellers only and I provide financing, transportation, prebuy inspections, warranties etc.. and I deal with all buyers personally and call you with only qualified buyers over your hidden reserve I can get you minimum of $32k guaranteed before the car comes down from over 20 different sites we put it on. You said you were not interested but I never told you what it cost and I think since I'm calling you on the phone you think I'm just some scammer or whatever but.. I have 17 years of marketing classic and exotic vehicles and I can sell your car before the Holidays. Statistically you won't sell this caliber of car on this site. All you're going to get are views which is what you said you had 1000 views but no offers. That's ridiculous. Do you have a way to finance, transport, prebuy inspect and every other thing that a REAL buyer wants? You're going to need that so for a few hundred bucks I can guarantee you the $32k for your car or you can let it sit on here and collect internet dust. You have a rare high caliber one off car and it's priced too low on the wrong site buried with dealers and 500,.000 other hot rods and other cars. It is very hard to sell that way. Call me and I'll get you up running in front of over 10k qualified potential buyers in the first 72hrs and all you have to do is answer the phone when I call with a qualified offer. It's guaranteed to sell before it comes down. Period. I hope to hear from you. Jeff Steinke 913-647-9538

Three times in my life I was hosed, big time. Each one involved upfront money.

I just sold my (O/T) '68 Corvette. All I can tell you is that it takes time, so be patient. When it didn't sell the first month, I started to panic. After three months, I had two of the guys who originally contacted me decide that it was what they wanted and I could have sold it twice at my original asking price. Good things come to him who waits.

With Model T's of that vintage going in the 8-12,000 range, bet he thinks it a rod. Do some research and find out what they are selling for on the open market or Ebay, not some big house auction. And I do mean selling not listing) You can reach a nation wide market thru ebay for less money.

It is a street rod.Click on the link on post #10."T"'s not bringing the money they used to except for 1927's.Hotrodhotline .com might be a good site.Auto trader also.At least you retain possession. There are listing fees on both sites.

Had a great experience with Michael @ "We Be Autos". They handle "lots" of advertising, verification of buyers, funds and title disbursements. Nothing "up front" and only a 5% fee at sale. Here is their site. http://www.webeautos.com/
Michael helped with my ad content and posted all the pictures I sent him. Didn't require a separate photo shoot. Chap

If he's that good at selling , offer him a commission upon completing the sale. I bet he says no.

I get the EXACT same line from a guy named Bob. $300 up front, my price is to low. always calls with "great news"!!!

I told him, I'd sign a contract that AFTER the car was sold I'd pay him $300, he tells me that he can't do that. ....of course he can't. Bye bye Bob, I'll take my chances alone.
