Default Here's a scam for ya

I posted a wanted ad and received this from "jsuther". Googled his email addy and what do you know, he shows up on several sites with the same email proposition. This may be old news, just passing it along.

Hi,

I can help you with a lead. Please contact Don on [email protected] regarding your request. He is located in Sacramento CA 93011 and the last time we talked , he had for sale. I purchased items from him and they arrived in NEW condition as described and just right on time. His cell # is 916-245-5601.

Thanks

The zip code given is completely bogus...it's not a Sacramento zip code...not even close.

....and a guy wants to travel from L.A. (to MN) to buy my $600 '89 truck; of course he has only one cashiers check he can send me; but it is for $2500 and I should send him the excess back via a MoneyGram so he can purchase airfare.

I wonder how many people they find that actually believe their BS.

He said he received this. But did not display IT 'til after other info then threw IT on. Thus giving the appearance of being his post. It made me blink also. I always try to use punctuation marks where needed. The best thing though is to proof read before hitting submit. Except in the case of Ol' Ron and Walt Dupont, I'll take their tips and advice any way it comes out.

All it takes is one sucker to fall for this scam and this guy makes money just trolling on the computer. These guys consistently troll the want ad section of this site and the V-8 club site. I recently posted a want ad and got three e-mails. They all started out with the same greeting of "hey buddy I have the parts you need. Let me have your phone #" All e-mails had different names connected to them .What's interesting is my phone # was in the ad. Keep on your toes as these people will continue their lurking in order to find a sucker.

I've gotten to the point where I dont post wanted ads just because you get so many of those responses.
It's the same thing with Craiglist, I posted a car for sale there and got this " hey I really like your car, is it still for sale" I answered back with yes, what do you want to know about it. Then no response.

As long as members like Vonn Ditch keep us all alert it reminds us to be careful. To many good people here to let scammers stop us from using such a great site. Scammers are easy to spot if you're alert. I'd be lost without The Ford Barn.
