Default Boiled linseed oil and a head gasket

I read somewhere that soaking the head gasket in boiled linseed oil keeps the gasket from weeping.

I remember doing, it in the past and it never weeped.

It did however change the gasket color from white to light brown.

Anyone else tried it?

Never heard of that. I have put silicone sealer on the inside water passages of gaskets to seal them, works but not sure it is needed?

Just curious?? What material are the head gaskets made of that are boiled in linseed oil?

Be careful when using linseed oil, used rags can spontaneously Combust.

Old Wives' Tales about head gasket tricks are about as effective as BOILING a Pigs' ear in Milk of Magnesia & Cilantro.

In theory, boiled linseed oil will dry and seal the fiber layer of the head gasket. However, the gasket needs to be installed and the head bolts torqued before the linseed oil dries. The linseed oil may liquefy and weep under the influence of heat from the engine.

I do not think using boiled linseed oil is a good idea. Use a sealer like Barr's in the coolant instead.
