Default Manifold Gasket - best one?

Hi,

I just put a new Rich Falluca engine in the Town Sedan and am very happy with it. I am having a problem and it is not with the engine. The exhaust manifold gasket is an older, unused, cardboard-ish type. It is gone at the top and back of the manifold. Easy enough to fix but I want to use the best possible gasket this time around. Thoughts?

I use the single piece sandwich style and tighten from the inside out.

I like this copper two piece with built in glands. Manifold should be straight for best results.

I also us the one barkleydave suggested above ^^^

For the go car the 1 piece fel pro steel clad gasket works well. I surface manifolds to within .0025 and if good and ports align well you should be fine

I tried them all and the two piece copper "show" gaskets are the only ones that fit right. They cost a few bucks more but are worth it.

These folks make a Model A gasket that sounds great. I have not used it but will the next time I need one. JB

ive used the late 31 slip in copper ones - work great with a light coating of copper coat on both sides.

your manifolds MUST and absolutely MUST be 100% flat upon the mating surface to the block. If not the best gaskets in the world wont last.

I have always used a one piece gasket made by FELPRO MS2388 S. You can order it at any auto parts store. Hope this helps.

If I used a torque wrench, that's most likely what it would read when I tighten them.

I use drop in copper 2 piece made by A&L . Less shrinkage than others. Berts may sell them also.

I only use the Copper sandwich type, with a TINY bead of Exhaust Sealant around the port on each side.---DON'T SCREAM, but I torque them to 55 Ft Lbs & several re-tightenings, later.
