Default E vapo rust

I think I'd like to try Evaporust in my Model A cooling systems. Will it harm the radiators?

No problem, just make sure you seal it good and rotate every 24 hours to get every nook and cranny.
A good long rinse and flush is also a good idea.
Have done that myself.

I put Evapo-Rust in my radiator and drove the car for a few days.

Drained and flushed system.

It did a good job.

One thing about evaporust...water kills the action.

I put it in mine for about 4 days, started and ran until temp was at normal about 4 times a day. I ran a solution of Arm & Hammer for about a day after that whether it did any good I don't know. I flushed after all of that with the swimming pool pump similar to what Tom Wesenberg has demonstrated in the past. Since refilling with coolant I have drained the cooling system twice and gotten a lot of fine black sediment. The reason I did the A&H, after dipping my other parts in evaporust, I rinse them with a garden hose nozzle, scrub them with the A&H solution and rinse again. I seem to always get a lot of black off when I scrub them. I dry them immediately and either paint or spray some pb blaster on them. And evaporust will eventually take paint off depending how long your parts are in it, that might be because there is rust under the paint.

Just remember evaporust and rust911 will only work on rust. If your radiator and engine are greasy it will not work well.

The best way is to degrease the whole thing, then put in the evaporust to de-rust the engine.

Glenn, you can drain the coolant and flush it with water, then refill with water and add Dawn dish soap and it does remarkably well at cutting grease. Even adding some Tide laundry soap to the mix is good, but the key to any is continuously flushing. If you feel you need something more powerful, then use sodium hydroxide (lye) at about 10% concentration however this must be done at a quick pace as it is tough on soft metals like solder.

What is the major tap water problem/condition in your area, Lime? Calcium? Iron? Do your problems include iron in your pipes or calcium? Do your hot water pipes spring pin hole leaks? Do you have a dehumidifier in your home? If so, save the water from from the dehumidifier, it's virtually distilled and you're throwing it away any way. I keep a few gallons handy. Using tap water will only cause problems down the road.
