Default basket case coupe

I have purchased a 1930 model a coupe as a complete basket case. All the wood in the body was removed 30 years ago with all the wood brackets. I do have everything as far as I can tell. All the wood came with it new in kit form including body blocks. The new wood was made by a man in Fresno california over 30 years ago and still wrapped up in orignal wrappings. My question is should I put linseed the oil on the wood before I start installing it?

I don't think Henry did. He just painted it body color if I remember. With any wood kit you are going to discover that you are going to be trimming here and there to make it all line up. They all need adjustment. I wouldn't do anything too it until I had all the doors closing properly, hood lined up etc. Fortunately there isn't alot of wood in 30 coupe body so this shouldn't be very difficult. Unlike a four door or Victoria or Cabriolet.

I think it is best to "seal" the wood after trimming it to make it fit. This helps insure it lasts longer and doesn't absorb moisture. Any decent paint or primer will seal the wood. I used black Rustoleum on my cars wood.

It may be excessive, but when I did the roof in my Coupe, I coated all the wood with polyurethane. I also put thick tape anywhere wood contacted metal to minimize squeaks. It seems to have really helped.

Seal it.
