Cool Kat, Thanks very much for sharing! Amazing. Is it really yours? Tell us more about it, where did you get it, who did the work and why? Of course I'd also request more photos! Super sweet.
Saw something similar at the Don Garlits Museum in Florida http://garlits.com/ . You might be able to find sixteen photos of it here: http://s291.photobucket.com/user/Ver...?sort=3&page=1 or maybe you'll have to click the photo below to link over to Photobucket. Anyhow, Thanks for the photos, looking forward to more info. -VT/JeffH |

What's wrong with that engine! Nothing. It's one of the first 32 blocks with the dip stick in the rear of the block, should have an aluminum oil pan, wrong carb, should be the single bbl. I'd make a long distance call to Henry and tell him. I think they ought to give it to me to put in my living room. Walt

Re: My flathead leaks oil gas and water, has no compression and I'm pleased
The block is an early 32 "flange block". The external accessories are 34. The engine was part of a complete chassis that was donated to a San Francisco high school in 1934 by Hughson Ford in San Francisco. The gentleman that had the engine attended the school in 1962 and took auto shop. There was at that time a cut away DeSoto chassis also. In the mid 80's he went back to the school to see if the DeSoto chassis was still there. It was gone but the V8 engine and trans. were still there. He acquired it from the same shop teacher who was there when he went to school in 1962. It is felt that the block was in the display chassis for the introduction of the new V8s in San francisco held at the civic auditorium. Hughson Ford was the "world's first Ford dealer" and would have been the force behind the introductory extravagance at the civic. A huge crowd attended the debut of the 32's in SF as can be seen on page 13 & 14 in Loren Sorensen's book The Classy V8 and also in his book The Ford Shows as well as other publications.
