Scott is at the HIPO swap meet at the Veterans stadium long Beach, three or four times a year. If he has something you can use, he will bring it to Long Beach for you. Welcome to the ford barn. Bruce

Re: 1951 F2 Information
Bob C, I have been "told" by many they are the same. I have looked at beds side by side on a 48 and a 52 when I was looking to buy and I could see no difference.
However, I could be wrong and if they are not exactly the same I apologize. The guy that would probably know for sure is Numberdummy on the FTE forum. Scott |

Re: 1951 F2 Information
Here's an Express Bed from a 1948 F2 with the fenders, wood decking and wood cross members removed. Yes, factory put in wood cross members.
Get detailed pics. They typically rust where the floor meets the sides and the bottoms of the stake pockets. Nothing reproduced so you have to repair what you get. I have lots more pics if you need them. Prices are all over the place. I had to buy the whole truck. |

Re: 1951 F2 Information
Here is a better look at what the bed should look like. This is an Arizona truck. I made steel cross members and this was when I was test fitting it all.
The rust is typically where moisture gets trapped between the angle and sheet metal as well as along side the wood. Most beds I looked at had complete rot in these areas. It is all repairable, just depends on your skills and budget. Good luck! |

Re: 1951 F2 Information
What are the measurements for the running boars length wise because I think mine area too long causing the gap between the bed and the cab to be to wide

Re: 1951 F2 Information
You may have a non Ford bed? Google 51 Ford F2 and look at images. F1 beds are different but not flat. Top rails are still at an angle so I don't know what you have.
The F2/F3 running boards are like gold so don't toss them or leave them where someone could steal them. This is a great forum but, you may want to also join Ford Truck Enthusiasts. The 48-56 section. Lots of truck specific info. |

Re: 1951 F2 Information
Awesome!!! Thank you. Here is a picture of the side of my bed. I looked at the pockets and they appear to be cut and I can see the tabs that would normally go inside them I think. Also what is an IH bed?

Re: 1951 F2 Information
International Harvester. They had the flat tops on the bedsides, but most 1/2-tons appear to have had raised panel bedsides. Is yours an 8-ft bed? I can't find a picture of a 3/4-ton IH.
(edit -- I did find some poor pictures of L-120's and they do appear to have flat bedsides)

Re: 1951 F2 Information
Here is a picture from the back of my bed and it looks close but yet not quite the same as the HI beds. And yes mine is an 8 foot bed and the dimensions and spot on to the express bed so I'm stumped.

Re: 1951 F2 Information
Maybe a modified Express Bed? Part of it looks right and some of it doesn't.

Re: 1951 F2 Information
Thank you Scotty'2 52 F3,
I've done a good amount of research online and have found a few craigslist post that have F2 parts but they wont reply any of my emails I thought I almost had one, but I think once I told him I'm in California it must have been a no go. I found a pols in Colorado for beautiful running boards but no reply and I found some misc. parts trough Michigan, New York, North Dakota, and called a salvage yard in Mississippi, and all with no luck so far. Scott Brownie, Seems to be the only one willing to get back to me so thank you guys for his contact info. I'm not giving up but darn it I thought I had a stream of good luck. |

Re: 1951 F2 Information
Patience is the key. Some offers are bogus so be careful about how you handle the deal. You will eventually find the right parts. Scott (52 F3) was like a bulldog chasing down the parts he got. And as he said sometimes you have to buy more than you want then sell off the extra stuff.
