Default Enjoying my "New" Model A

Just wanted to provide a quick introduction as I recently acquired a 1930 model A. I was driving a heavily modified 1935 Ford Pickup in California before selling it. Picked up my new project upon moving to Texas. Guess you could say it's a bit of a barn find car so I'm learning as I go and trying to work out all the reliability gremlins. Thanks for the moderators for hosting this page - it's invaluable. How did everyone enjoy this hobby before the internet?!

Hey Hunter, welcome to the Ford Barn.

Did you put juice brakes on the coupe? Does it have dual tail lights? Does it have turning signals? Is that a 12 volt or 6 volt alternater on the car?

It reminds me a lot of the first ’31 coupe I had. Needless to say, mine was all black, but in about the same shape.

Good luck and happy model Aing,

Mike

Replace that copper gas line with a steel one.

Easy way for pics:
Click the "blue post reply" lower left bottom of page, when text box opens, in the top middle of the bar you will see a "paperclip" click that, a window will open "manage attachments" click "choose file" then pick your picture, after you picked up to seven pics click the top "upload" on the right hand side of the text box, wait for it to upload.
You must type something, anything into the text box message, scroll down to see "preview post" at bottom of your text box, you should see your message as it will appear when you post, if you like it click "submit reply" to post.

Hunter,

Did you lower the car or is that just the results or the bigger tires?

Still running the mechanical brakes. I had juice brakes come close to failing a couple times on my old '35 hot rod and that spooked me a bit. Going to stick with the Model A stock setup as I don't plan to drop a V8 into this coupe. The '30 has dual tailights and I have the kit for turn signals but haven't installed it yet. 6 volt alternator. Looking to keep the coupe close to stock (minus the suspension and dropped headlight bar) so right now my main goal is reliability. Fun project!

The car was found by Stockley Kustoms in Denton Texas. Before he sold it to me he installed a drop axle up front and a model B spring in the rear. That and the big-and-littles give it a nice stance in my humble opinion!

Looks good. We used to call that "raked" back in the late '50's with the big tires on the back.

Some guys put a Model "T" spring in the back of the Model A to drop it a couple of inches.

I'm running 560/15 front and 820/15 rear. Haven't pulled the back wheels since I bought it but I believe there is a spacer on the rears
