Question about Ford's 1928 - 1938 Automotive Hardware and Triming Supplies Book
I have a question for my fellow Ford Barn members. I came across a Ford book I haven't seen before and I was wondering if it's a some what common Ford book to find (i.e. like the Green Bible) or something kind of rare?
It's Copyright is May 1938 and it's Form 7675 titled Ford Automotive Hardware and Trimming Supplies. It's 164 pages and contains pictures, descriptions and part numbers for things like glass channels, window regulators, door rubber bumpers, dovetails, strikers, interior and exterior handles, locks, bolts, washers, fasteners, etc.... Thanks |

The 1934 book is available in reprint but I don't know about the 1938.

The '38 book is also available as a reprint. Original copies are kind of rare. Original copies are 8 1/2" x 11". Reprints are about half that size.

Reprints are available for under $25. I have an original copy which is larger and the parts are portrayed actual size. I believe the reprint pictures are 1/2 size. As for the usefulness of the book, I use it frequently. If I didn't have a copy I would definitely have it on my "must have list."

The closer in age to your car the better...I have the one issued in '33 covering only up through 1932. All sorts of special fasteners, latches, clips, grommets, with excellent illustrations. Good stuff. A full array of catalogs for a Ford would include this, the Chassis parts book, the body parts book, and the Standard hardware list. |

Re: Question about Ford's 1928 - 1938 Automotive Hardware and Triming Supplies Book
It is a very useful Ford book. It seems Ford printed the book every two years and the end date changed with the reissue. The 36 book also has an appendix, seems Ford forgot to put the photos of the window regulators in the book and added them with the appendix. There are many parts that become obsolete and the photos of the part is then dropped from the book and only the replacement part is shown, so if your looking for what style of wing bolt Ford used to secure the top mech of a 35 Cabriolet. You should look in the 36 hardware book. The photo in the 38 book is the replacement.
