Spent a number of hours riding and working on a built flathead powered boat on the Ct. river back in the mid '50's.
The working on part was, occasionally having to replace the rubber water pump impellers.
They would pick up river debris that would destroy them.
The problem was cured by installing metal impellers that became available.
