Looking for some references of someone who can rebuild a Columbia Two-Speed rear differential. I live in Western Pennsylvania so I'm hoping to get someone in the mid-Atlantic region and who has experience in this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any information.

I'd suggest ONLY John Connelly. John is reasonable and does first class work. Columbia service is not some side job for him but rather, his only job and dare I say, his passion.
Do this rebuilding once and do it correctly. So it cost you a few extra bucks to ship it. So what?
If there was ever a Columbia "Guru" John is surely it.

Been in touch with John and he states that he doesn't have the time to do rebuilds. He only builds and supplies parts for Columbia units.

He does machine work too. He just did my axle housing and bushing install. I would do it myself with his guidance.

Contact Dan Krehbiel in Temecula California. He has been doing these for many years. In fact he taught John Connelly about the Columbias some years ago. His phone number is 951-302-5922

I was not aware of the fact John no longer does rebuilds.

Dan helped me beau coup when I rebuilt my Columbia. Dan is an ex-western New Yorker, my neck of the woods, and along with technical advice and supplying parts he wove a
lot of 'back in the day' Buffalo stories. Ph# 951 302 5922

I just received all the bullet proofed parts back from him 2 days ago. I disassembled the clutch assemble and with the new parts he provided reassembled it last night. Took me about 1.5 hrs using a few basic tools. He had all the diagrams to help you reassemble the entire unit. I bead blasted the housings and repainted everything.
He sells most of the common parts that go missing and he has extra OEM parts if he doesn't reproduce them. He also has a complete set of OEM controls that he is rebuilding for me. Very cool to be able to eventually install an OEM Columbia in my '47 convertible.
When it's done it should be less than $4,000.
These units are still around. I bought mine out of MI in Nov.

Johnny Stooksbury did my Columbia rear years ago. It still works great, nice person to do business with.

Johnny rebuilt my Columbia for me. I made arrangements with him drove it down visited Tennessee attraction and picked it up 2 days later.

Just a follow up on my Columbia 2 Speed Differential rebuild. I was contacted by a gentleman who has rebuilt several of these so I had him do mine. He did supply references and I am more than satisfied. He contacted me several times during the rebuild just to let me know what was going on. He gave me all the invoices for the parts he received from John Connelly as well as the old parts he removed. His pricing was fare and I am more than satisfied with the finished product. Admitting I haven't installed it yet but I am confident that all is well. The piece looks like it belongs in a museum. His name is Allen Ponton in central Virginia. A fellow early V-8er with a couple of beauties for himself. If you need some machine work done feel free to call him. He's also a member of the early V-8 club.
