There it's a little play in and out of the axle with the drive shaft. Maybe just a 16th of an inch, but it otherwise seems sound. No discoloration or eccentric wobble. I'll have someone turn the opposite wheel when I get home to see if it's straight. Would that cause excessive lash and maybe the failure? It looks like the crack over the key had been there for a while since one side of the chunk had grease on it while the other was clean where it sheared.
