Default Radiator cores, what sizes interchange?

So.... for the 28-29 radiator, or for 30-31's for that matter.
Are there any cores from more modern radiators that can be interchanged with a tank swap?

A good radiator shop has a catalog of replacement cores available listed by size, fin spacing, fin shape, and tube number. He should be able to pick one out of your choice and replace the bad core.

The internet and shipping is almost worldwide, so far.

It is my understanding that Bergs uses a modern core design for the 30-30 radiators.

I’ve just been down this path (on a South Pacific island). I kept my frame and tanks and had a core made to my specs. I was very concerned about fit and clarified several times with the rad man who assured me that there would be no problem. In the end there was a problem. The width of the core that arrived was correct, but then my rad man decided to trim a row of tubes off each side because the width of the surround narrows towards the top. He should have just trimmed to fit the top curve and left the remainder of the side tubes as dummies. His “fix” was to place a flat piece of black steel down each side. These can be seen with the rad surround on, as a strip of about 1/2” wide down each side, although they stand out to me far more than anyone else, I guess. Not happy, but what can you do?
If you get a re-core, make sure you discuss this with the rad shop first!
