Default Correct Sediment bulb Mounting Hardware

What is the correct nut and washer for mounting the cast iron sediment bulb? I checked the hardware book but had no luck. I have seen originals with different hardware than what the vendors sell, which is a zinc plated nut and teethed lock washer. Is that correct? I ordered this exact set and had to file the lockwasher down to make it fit on the stud. Also, the nut didn't want to go on compared to the original.

I just checked an original that I have in the shop, thread is 3/4-16 NF, the lockwasher is missing but IIRC it is an internal star washer.

The correct large washer used can be seen in post #2.. Brattons is wrong.

I know that OP did not ask but ...

The second washer that appears in post 2 is the original washer made of lead ... to seal the BRASS DRAIN piece for drain shown in the photo.

Dan Partain's is how I remember mine. (March 1929) I think the star washer (Bratton pix) is from the glass version. At least all the glass versions I have seen have this.

For the cast iron, the nut is "different" and kinda heavy for the application, (lighter than an SAE Nut) the lockwasher is unusual in the angled ends.

The original nut is ABOUT 1/4" thick, takes a 1-1/8" wrench.

Instead of asking a question like that, why not just go to E-Bay and see one for sale & buy it.. Plenty of books to show you what is correct, or other peoples cars.. When you buy from the Reproduction Sellers dont "expect" it to be correct in looks, size, or fit..
