Re: "Unrestored Original" - except for paint, upholstery, top, plating
I saw the car about 4 weeks ago at his shop. For it's age, etc it's very nice and they and fairly rare. There was another for sale last year or so in Essex, CT for about twice as much.
Wonder what happened to Pete's in NY, he used to post a lot here, but no more as so many others have left also. Paul in CT |

Re: "Unrestored Original" - except for paint, upholstery, top, plating
PRG999, Post # 17: "I have two questions on the car:
1. Is the firewall supposed to be black 2. What would be a general fair price for it?" _______________________________ The firewall should not be black - it should be the same color as the rest of the body. It is dangerous to make a statement of worth without actually seeing and driving the car. But my 'shooting from the hip', "general fair price" based on what the photos show and assuming the validity of the description, I would say the "general fair price" would be somewhere in the vicinity of $25,000. While the car is most certainly not "an amazing un-restored original", the car certainly is a very nice example of a fairly rare Model A; one that most people (including me) would characterize as "an older 'frame on' restoration". A more common body style in this car's condition would probably be in the $15,000 range. So this car gets a $10,000 price increase due to its unique rarity. |

Not really, it states;
"This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available." and it says "ended" on the picture. This could mean that the time ran out without reaching the reserve or the owner pulled the auction. If it were sold it would say; "Bidding has ended on this item." and the little picture would say "sold"

Re: "Unrestored Original" - except for paint, upholstery, top, plating
This Model A may not be perfect, but it looks very nice. The 2 door Phaetons were never sold in Australia, only the 4 door models. There were no 1931 Model A's sold in Australia, as they just continued selling the 1930 models until the all new 1932 Fords were released. What is interesting about the 1930 Australian Model A Fords, is that they were full of wood, which was a backward step as the 1928 and 1929 Model A Fords used imported body parts. There are very few 2 door Phaetons in Australia, and all have been recent imports. This is a real pity, as they are nice looking cars. |

MercMan from Oz - thank you for posting the photos of the car. One of the things that most attracts me to this car is the color - excuse me - colour. I am also an accessories guy, so I appreciate the many accessories that this car has. Lastly, would be the body type.
So it all goes together to make, for me, a really nice package. |

Here is a picture of a 1931 Ford Model A Deluxe 2 door Phaeton, one of 4 that are known to be in Australia. |

The spot light on the car is a Lorraine. Not your usual accessory light found on a Model-A. The Lorraine was more of a "high-end" car extra
like Cadillac, Duesenburg, etc. The Unity Sportlite as recommended by Ford was the normal accessory Model-A spot light. Bob-A |
