Has anyone checked the pricing on those bad boys?! I hope i did my math wrong but came out to over $78,000! 153 pounds per week for 5 years with a 20% deposit. My wife told me 1 pound is equal roughly to 2 dollars.

I do not like the tires and wheels. I think Coker Tire sells new model "A" wheels. They should talk to Coker or their chrome wire wheel supplier and get a better looking wheels.
I kind of like them but do not worry about bidding against me on e-bay.
My guess is that they are ribbons used for decoration at a wedding.

Some may like the Shay and some might like the Branford Classic, I prefer the Real McKoy...a '28 through '31 Ford Model A.

A Shay or a Branford are like silicon breasts...they may look nice from far away but they ain't the real thing!

JK, Dog here,
Ask your wife for me, "One pound of WHAT?? Hamburger is more than that." Bill's Uncle Henry raises LIMOSZINE (sp?) beef & gets $2.00 a pound, on the hoof! He hates it when nature calls to the cow just before being weighed!! "You just cost me $11.77"!! LOL Buster T.

I agree with you. A fake is a fake. This hurts the eye. The proportions are wrong. I could not enjoy these cars. Buah.

Greetings Barney
Interesting, you say a fake is a fake. The company that makes the cars in the UK states "To those familiar with 1920's Americana, the Bramwith reflects unmistakeable lines of the Ford Model A introduced in the USA in 1927." Nothing about the word replica.

The Shays on the other hand were advertised then and even now as replicas. Harry J. Shay founded the Model A & Model T Motor Car Reproduction Corporation in the spring of 1978, which name was changed to Shay Motors Corporation in November of 1980.

The UK cars in my opinion are not in the same class as the Shay!

I suppose some people do not like fake butter, milk, salt, sugar, blonds, cream, breasts, coffee etc.

I use to eat at my sisters once in a while and they had all of the artificial condiments on the table. I thought her and her husband died from this stuff. I really miss them. I went to Walt's country club one time and he said he wished I would have worn a jacket. I told him that my hooded sweat shirt was in the pickup. He said, " that is not what I meant". I thought OK. A couple of days latter I realized he meant a sport jacket.

They were really nice and giving people. I remember my sister use to call mom from California and they would talk for about an hour.

I will try to stay focused on my next post.

It is funny that they are using an old US design and Detroit is advertising their European design. I hate the European design and that all cars now look alike and the parts do not interchange. The interchangeable parts from year to year is now gone forever.

Like they say, "Coping is the greatest complement".

To me it would look more authentic if the body set about 3-4" lower. Too much space between the top of the tire and the fenders.

How would that landaulet body, not the stretched one, go on a standard A.

It would improve the appearance, but there would still be a visual conflict between the radius of the modern wheels and the larger radius of the fenders.

Makes it look like a go-kart.

What was the appeal back then of the folding top over the back seat? Some hold over from carriages?

Special Coupe Frank,

Thanks for your reply. I almost spit out a mouthful of coffee.

All in all, I'd have to agree with you.

The convert sedan with the poor fitting top seems to have goofy looking wire wheels with no outer spokes in the area of the valve stems.

Yes - The Landau was from the 19th carriage trade.

This is where the "S"-shaped "Landau Irons" came from.

I am a Shay owner. I have a love for the model a and also wanted a Shay since they were offered in 1979. It seems that most of the comments about them are negative, by users who haven't seen them up close and personal. I will tell you if you park one next to a real model A, you will see the most accurate reproduction on the planet. I waited 35 years to own and finally got it in Nov. 2014. Harry Shay did substitute parts that were not standard model A issue; why I don't know. But I have been studying the model A and have slowly been replacing with authentic parts. What some you may not understand is that the Ford Corporation supported this effort and allowed Shay to fabricate these bodies directly from the patented model A drawings. These are not close approximations but extremely. accurate and respectful reproductions. I think the name used later by Camelot Motors; Modern A is really more appropriate. But when people ask I take the time to explain what it is truthfully.

Ford should make some repro A's like they did for the T. I rode in one of the Ford T repros and it was excellent.
